Using this method, Om Hockey Systems aims to give First Nation communities across Saskatchewan and Canada not only an even playing field with the most elite professional programs but a huge advantage over the rest of the hockey world in terms of on ice skill development.
No longer will a player need to travel to far away cities for expensive hockey camps. They will instead have access to the best program available in hockey today right in their own home community.
Self Worth
With the rapid rate a player acquires skill through Om, they begin to build competency in the game of hockey.
Competency breeds Success which in turn breeds Confidence and Self Worth. Self worth is the foundation on which positive mental health is built on.
As a player advances in the system, he gains more competency which leads to more success which leads to more confidence and self worth creating an uplifting feedback loop of positive mental health.
Discipline & Leadership
There are many programs that take up a lot of our time and effort that give little reward back. Om is NOT one of these programs. Om rewards young players for their hard work and effort with functional, rapid skill development. Om teaches players through direct experience the benefits of discipline and hard work.
The more time and effort a player puts into Om, the greater the benefit they will receive from the program. This benefit is very noticeable, and soon the player associates positive reward with discipline. Discipline is a key component that opens all doors in Life, and through the Teacher of direct experience Om aims to pass these keys to the player.
As a player progresses in the program, inevitably their competency in the game of hockey rises. This affords the player unique opportunities in leadership.
Hierarchy in hockey is based on ability, and as a players ability in the game increases he or she is looked upon by their teammates for guidance and relied upon for leadership. These direct experiences with leadership are unforgettable as a player realizes how they act is how others will and that they set the tone for the makeup of their environment. This lesson reverberates far beyond the walls of the rink. The ability to realize that your actions and attitude have an impact on your community provides an invaluable awareness that can change not only you but the whole world.
