Om Big River Academy
Om Hockey Systems is proud to announce the first Om Academy in Big River First Nation, Saskatchewan. We are currently running both the Om Hockey and Om Soccer development programs through their Elementary and High Schools as part of their gym credit. Over 70 Indigenous athletes are currently enrolled in the Om Hockey Winter Program. This number will reach 135 for 2022-2023 season with an aim of 180 Indigenous hockey players enrolled for 2024. This is the first professional grade hockey skill development program ever implemented into an Indigenous Reserve, effectively turning their schools into an elite sports skill development academy. Due to the sustainable nature of the Om Programs, this Academy will be producing high level athletes of both soccer and hockey for many years to come.

That’s because Tyadg McGauley, who founded and is the president of the hockey development program, is now gearing up for a pilot project with the Big River First Nation in Saskatchewan.
